New Delhi, Delhi, India
Late evening start from Delhi on 25th & reach Chopta by 10/11 a.m. on 26th (taking enough and required breaks on the way). Have lunch at the campsite and do an evening birding session in Mandal.
Next day on 27th, we will do an early morning trek to the Tungnath and Chandrashila summit in search of the Himalayan Monal & other pheasants such as Snow Partridge, Chukar Partridge, Himalayan Snowcock along with the different species of Accentors (Robin, Alpine, Altai, Rufous-breasted). Various Tits (Black-throated, Spot-winged, Grey-crested), Finches (European Goldfinch, Common Mountain), Owlets (Asian Barred, Collared) Vultures (Bearded, Cinerous, Himalayan), Eagles (Steppe, Golden), Thrushes (Mistle, Alpine) are also commonly found here. Himalayan Tahr, Gorals, Yellow-throated Martens, Short-eared Pika & the Red fox were the mammala I saw here in my last visit (Dec '16).
On 28th morning, we will visit the famed Makku farms for an exciting birding session. Some of our targeted species would be Hill Partridge, Spotted Rosefinch, Pink-browed Rosefinch, Blue-fronted Redstart, Himalayan Bluetail, Black-faced Warbler, Koklass Pheasant, White-collared Blackbird and various Woodpeckers to name a few.
Will have lunch at the campsite and leave for Delhi by 12ish.
