the endangered hoolock gibbon is the only species of ape to be found in India I had a tough grey day to capture these treetop-swinging noisy beauties
Males are black with a distinctive white brow, while females are copper-tan with dark brown hair on the sides of their face, and a clear central parting in the head hair.

Western Hoolock Gibbon ( female) - One of the two closely related apes found in India and exclusively in NE India. We got one family of four - two males , one female & one juvenile. In this shot, the female & juvenile are seen here on top of the tree. They sing once in few days and we missed that experience though.

It is one of the few jungles in India that offers on foot safari in the land of Elephants and Leopards and some more undisclosed surprises. Very good place for macro photography.

Ronak Shah Peter, a dedicated trip to North East India will be very rewarding.

over 4 years

Peter Mastricht Ronak, im thinking of dedicating 2 weeks for it. I plan to spend my time between Kaziranga, Sundarbans & Namdapha with a stopover visit at the Gibbon Sanctuary. Yet to make a final plan but I have also heard plenty about Eaglenest from some of my birder friends who have spent a lot of time in the North East
