Tanmay Keshav Wonderful click Ashley!
Ashley thank you
It is a great privilege to study nature in the wilderness. In an entire forest full of towering trees , only a couple attracted all the woodpecker and nuthatches. You can see the multiple holes made by them on the stem, the great tree was perforated like a gun silencer from top to bottom. This White-tailed Nuthatch looking for a bite in one such hole.
Harish K Excellent post. Would love to know which tree this is if you know
Somnath Goswami Thanks , the guide told that it's a Cedar tree , but not with great conviction.
Arijit Kanani Great shot and documentation.
Rajan R D Superb
Somnath Goswami Thanks Arijit , Rajan and others :-)
Tanmay Keshav Lovely post.. hope to see more from your extensive travels!
Somnath Goswami Happy that you have liked this Tanmay , I will definitely share more stories and images here.
Hello guys, planning my first trip to Pangot and Sattal. Focus of the trip is birding and any amount of walking / trails / trekking. Any suggestions on where I should be staying in these places, birding guides that you recommend would be great. Thanks
Tanmay Keshav Hi Roshan, have been to Pangot a couple of times. Stayed there in Oak Trails Eco Lodge one time, good birding within the camp too, amazing views, great food. It's a 20 minute trek up to the camp so that's quite exciting too. What i also liked was that it's further ahead from where most lodges are in Pangot so its quite exclusive.. and yet reasonably priced
Mohit Srinivasan Try Kafal House in Pangot. Heard good things about all of these - Oak Trails, Jungle Lore, Mountain Quail Birding Lodge. For Sattal, KMVN guest house works well for me - well located & quite budget
Arun James Some good resources and guides for Pangot & Sattal are Hari Lama, Rohit Nayal, Vijay Patni.. have their numbers if you need
Gulnar Vij Plenty of options for Sattal, that stretch is full of lodges. KMVN is good. You can even set up base in Pangot and take your car to Sattal for your time there.
Roshan Suresh Thanks a lot everyone. @Arun: I have msged you, pls do provide their numbers.
View from Kunjakharak in Pangot
On the main road from Pangot, right at the end is what is known as Kunjakharak. There is a Forest Rest House there which is probably not all that functional. But trek a bit, during winters you can come across Goral grazing on the other side. Often, you can find Himalayan Snowcocks on the slopes. The view by itself is breathtaking. This was taken in bad light quite late in the evening.
Arun James Lovely
Arun Ahuja beautiful!
