This platform has been amazing for me personally, on many fronts. I have visited many more forests, some that I had not even heard of; forged beautiful friendships that will surely last a lifetime and improved my photography by leaps and bounds. So thank you for introducing me to Safarist Tanmay :)
Some of the forests that I have visited through this platform are Satpuda (Jan 2016 - with Tanmay, Arun and Varsha); Serengeti (March 2016 with Safique); Kanha (April 2016 with Shadab); Kabini (October 2016 with Shalmali and Vasumathi); Ranthambore and Jhalana (November 2016 with Shalmali); Tadoba and Tipeshwar (February 2017 with Safique and Shalmali); Kabini (March 2017 with Yojna); Chandoli (March 2017 with Vivek and Shalmali); Pench (April 2017 with Safique); Kabini (August 2017 with Narahari Kanike); Dachigam (September 2017 with Shalmali and Yojana) and now Corbett in November 2017 with B.N. Dayananda.
The names mentioned in this post are all travellers from Safarist who actually joined the trips, not to mention the innumerable people that I have connected with, asked for suggestions, shared feedback and stories!
So thank you once again :)

The Churna FRH is beautifully located amidst the forest (approx. 30 kms away from Madhai). The bookings can be done through the forest department in Hoshangabad. The charges were around Rs. 2000 / night.

Piyush Khinvasara Hey, can you help me out with a contact number for bookings?

Some info for all the zones/routes in Satpura:-
The Keria Route is a 14km stretch & the charges are Rs. 2750/- (Rs. 1250 for entry, Rs. 300/- for the forest guide and Rs. 1200/- as jeep rental).
The Lagda Route covers the Keria Route too. The charges are Rs. 3050/- (Rs. 1250 for entry, Rs. 300/- for the forest guide and Rs. 1500/- as jeep rental).
The Churna Route is the longest route and covers the entire area around the FRH in Churna which is really beautiful. It also includes part of the Keria route. To cover the Churna route, you need to do 2 safaris back to back. The charges are Rs. 6700/- (Rs. 2500 for entry, Rs. 700/- for the forest guide, and Rs. 3500/- for jeep rentals). This cost includes both safaris.

During my last trip, I took around 3 canoe rides in the backwaters of Denwa River. I loved that we were able to get quite close to the birds. It also allowed us to make images from a very low level. The canoe obviously covers less distance, but it gives you the flexibility and chance to navigate yourself to capture any of the birds that you come across. There is also a boat ride option, it will cover a much larger area, but I feel it compromises on flexibility and you also tend to scare most of the birds away because of the sound. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the birding opportunities in Satpura. Would love to hear others experiences

Tanmay Keshav The area next to the FRH in the Churna side can be extremely conducive for birding. Also, you'll definitely see the malabar giant squirrel there

about 1 year

Avijit Ganguly I think TAnmay forgot to mention about the Flying squirrel in Churna FRH complex
