Gaur or Indian bison early morning in Bandipur
The largest bovines, they are quite shy and use the cover of night to come out for feeding. With the break of dawn, they slip back inside the forest. We see them often enough and can just as easily overlook the fact that it is a vulnerable species.
Pied kingfisher - Kosi Barrage, Ramnagar
It's just a few kms from Ramnagar city. Good place to spot some migratory birds during winter and you will definitely see plenty of pied kingfishers in action - perched, diving, fishing, etc. Saw plenty of ruddy shelducks too
This is from the Crocodile / Gharial point, overlooking the Ramganga river, roughly a km from the Gairal Forest Rest House in Dhikala. It gets its name as one can frequently see gharials and crocs basking in the banks of the shallow waters of Ramganga. Look closely and you may be able to spot a gharial and a crocodile in the picture. The croc should be fairly straightforward, can you spot the gharial?
