Photo of the expanse of SGNP taken from the top of Kanheri Caves on a cloudy afternoon during the monsoons. It is incredible to have such pristine wilderness right in the backyard of Mumbai. There are several trekking trails one can take like the Kanheri Trail, Malad Trail, Shilonda Trail. Ideal for a refreshing break from the Mumbai madness.

This was taken on the banks of the Purna river at the location of the historic and famous Mayadevi temple, in the Dangs area of South Gujarat.
I was pleasantly surprised to see such luxuriant dense forests in Gujarat. On further inquiry, it came out that this area is actually an extension of the western ghats and has the thickest cover in the state, with impressive flora and fauna.
Close to Surat, Vapi and Valsad and located next to Vansda National Park - it can make for a nice day-long drive plus trek.

The Vernal Mist
Chanced upon this beautiful rainbow at the foot of Vernal falls while hiking up to the top of Nevada falls.
The Mist Trail, as it is called, is a 8-mile hike with a elevation increase of about 2000ft. On the way, you will encounter beautiful waterfalls, some steep climbs and mesmerizing vistas of the iconic Yosemite National Park. Be prepared to be drenched with the mist from the waterfalls!

A pod of bottlenose dolphins spotted at Mirissa Bay at Sri Lanka. It was quite an experience sitting on the beach and watching them swim by!

Saw a pair of green bee-eaters sitting on a signboard during an afternoon safari at Tadoba. Clearly they prefer Pandharpauni Meadow over Jamni Chowk for their evening snack :)

A female Malabar Pied Hornbill feasting on berries from a tree. Although both genders have a similar large yellow and black beak, the female is characterized by the white bare skin around its eye.
