Red Fronted Rose Finch
Warsilla Pass Laddak
FINDING NEMO :
It was our Nemo , we saw it when we were headed to warsilla pass looking out for Red Foxes and wolfs , it was sitting on a distant rock from the road side and approach was very difficult as it was upward trajectory with snow on it. It was slippery and we have no idea where the foot will land on a hard surface or a hollow.
so we moved on for other targets while in return we saw it near us on the road the moment i got out of car i took four steps deep in snow upto my knee , wow it was scary as well as adventure, i came out and now i moved on rock to rock with the feet trembling and hands freezing nose giving out vapor and flowing out water thin mucus due to the chilling winds going inside with every breath we take, the chill was scratching the nose ..wow it was sweet bitter feeling , hands giving up as they were playing inside the weeds on the rocks..it was all a great mix and finally we all made some shots ...enthralling it was ...
I do have a clear perch shot also but the clear perch doesnt gives the idea what it was like to before we get the birdie on a clear perch ...
-18 DEGRESS we are travelling like nomads in the rocky ice covered terrain of leh in some unknown villages looking for wildlife tracking the snow leopard to catch that elusive ghost in the open and near to get some neat frames.
The chill is on high due to the fresh snow fall and the wind . Some sunshine brings in much respite, the cars are parked stove is on for some hot pipping Kawa and the lunch of cup of maggi. In the mean while we spot this blue sheep on the top of the peak and we pick camera to make some frames of Ghost most favorite meal. This sheep is friendly and do some high five....
Aesthetic category: 3rd place winner!
Prakhar Krishan gets the 3rd prize for this lovely photograph from Corbett National Park, titled "Toss and Spin".
He describes the photo saying, "The frame was captured when a group of elephants after having some serious talks and exchange with a tiger came out and started having a bath and drinks. This young elephant came out of the bath and started to toss mud in and around himself to dry himself out and get rid of the bugs sticking to him."

Jr Kankati Cubs
Hi 5 toursit...
2017 start I wished to sight the tiger cubs and photograph them, it was a long desire to have some of mine frames though I am very new to wildlife photography or say just a starter. This desire was complete at Bandhavgarh where I have good sighting of my first tiger The Mahaman Male in 2015. Incidentally i was there again on the same dates and I have sighting on every day every safari and was able to make the frames every day.
This was made during the last ride. The cubs and mom have returned to the water hole after a week in the morning and they were there in the evening even. They were playing around in the green bushes as it was may and heat was quite high. I missed Kankati Jr due to high traffic at the point she was there and she left the cubs to play and herself dozed off in the green in the near by...after my return others got exciting frames of full mom dad and kids family , but i was happy that i go the kids as I desired for full frame of family would have been a boon but this is no less then a boon...
I think I am gonna visit Bandhavgarh every year like an annual Pilgrimage till I am alive , was trying to cutt off to add other parks but I cannt Bandhavgarh has its own charm and I am doing it again and again to photograph a tigress near the Vishu Statue in Tala ...what a site it is and what a moment it will be ...Gods of us mortals do bless me with the wish I seek for ...I dont seek money matter or fame I seek a frame of a graceful stripes under you shawdow..
Sharmeeli The Queen
It was shot at 5:30 P M the intense low light action thanks to my full frame that these movements came in without much grains and noise. This particular scenario with Sharmeeli was learning curve to me. When she came out of the density to the track there was sudden drip in the shutter speed as the canopy didn't let the light come in from the sky , eyes are much developed then the camera sensor so what they were able to see and identify camera wasn't. The 800 being a good body gave up due to bad buffer 6 frames in CH mode and it starts panting and I was missing the moves and the stares..but neverthless I cannt pick the other body as lens was 600mm on it and the TC was jammed into it so 300 2.8 with D800 was a good combo but it was a spoiled sport for the moment right now.
Finally she was able to find a nallah to make her way back , a nalla which is free from pointed stones and thorns that can cause agony and pain to her soft padded paws. And then she walked like a queen in the open stretch and at a moment it felt she will walk straight into us but then she turned and walked into the hedges and climbed into the dense jungle bidding us good byee..
This particular shot was shot on high ISO of 5000 on D4s with 600mm 1.4x tc resting on a bean bag and gypsy was \\ on the \\ upward terrain...it was simply a jaw biting experience as no one other was able to shoot and witness this action ...she was solely walking for us ...what an evening ...nature do bless ..
An Awesome riot of colors, when I started as a bird photographer or to be very true as a photographer which I am till date , a photographer no conservation issues no issues with me, I am a man of limited means and some dreams and believe in living life .so I am a photographer. This bird this purple colour bird use to tease me a lot by playing hide and seek and running off..finally the Bharatpur happened and this tease and prick didn't pissed at all , she was letting me close and so close that finally i exhausted my min foucssing distance. And the result is before us thought it is very tightly cropped but I somehow wanted it like this and Bharatpur never disappoints at least commoners do behave well and keep the heart of ours well at times...
While exiting from Dhikala , after the loss of tiger sighting and to top that Spot Bellied Eagle Owl was also missed and to add to it the other party in our group sighted 3 tigers in same area including parwali and two males and one tiger even crossed ram ganga for them and while return they even got the owl mentioned above on the open perch...it was like a dooms day for me, world has come to an end and there was no hope. We were going to Bijrani for the last leg and it was on the exit we met him ..in the jolly good mood
