We were almost near the end of our safari in Z6. The area which connects Z6 and Z1 can be quite fruitful for sightings, especially late in the evening as it was then. Unfortunately, on this particular occasion, we were not that lucky. Or, so we thought. We were on our way out and could have just as easily missed what was sitting on the left on a barren rock. Stunned, the jeep was brought to a halt. This leopard was out on its prowl. Calls of chital, sambhar, peacocks and langurs were reverberating through the forest. The leopard was fairly nonplussed, plotting its next move and stealing glances at its onlookers interchangeably. It was in that beautiful moment that we left the leopard to itself, just making it out of Z6 on time.

We took a chance with a short weekend trip to Ranthambore. Park was at its greenest best, especially Zone 6. Best part being ours was probably the only jeep around :). A trip conceived on The Safarist
